The occupation of Electrical Engineering Technician

Throughout the duration of this course, students will acquire technical knowledge enabling them to offer advice to clients within a sales context. They will also develop skills in various areas including variable speed drivers, analogue and digital electronics, programmable logic controls, and renewable energy. Upon completion, students will possess the capability to design and assess electrical systems and equipment.
 
Graduates will be proficient in several aspects of electronic engineering technician roles, including:
 
– Devising strategies to tackle environmental and sustainability challenges within the energy sector.
– Fabricating, assembling, and dismantling components in the utilities industry.
– Resolving issues in direct current (d.c.) circuits.
– Rectifying basic faults in electronic apparatus by component replacement.
– Diagnosing resonance circuits in electronic devices.
– Applying principles of physics to address electrotechnology engineering issues.
– Identifying and repairing complex power supply malfunctions.
– Designing and advancing digital systems.
– Diagnosing communication system malfunctions.
– Creating, inputting, and validating control programs for programmable controls.
– Providing engineering solutions for challenges in complex polyphase power circuits.
To enroll in the program, prospective students must meet the following criteria:
 
1. Age Requirement: Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
 
2. Academic Requirement: Completion of Australian Year 12 or its equivalent from overseas.
 
3. English Language Proficiency: Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English through one of the following methods:
 
   – IELTS (International English Language Testing System) with an overall score of 6.0, with no individual band score below 5.5. Other equivalent tests such as PTE (Pearson Test of English) are accepted as well.
   
   – Some education institutions may offer an in-house English Placement Test for meeting the English entry requirements.
 
Exemptions from English proficiency tests may apply under the following circumstances:
 
– Applicants hold passports from the UK, USA, Canada, NZ, or Republic of Ireland.
– Applicants are enrolled in specific courses such as registered school courses, standalone English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS), courses delivered in a language other than English, or registered post-graduate research courses.
– Applicants have completed at least five years of study in English in Australia, UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, or the Republic of Ireland.
 
Additionally, it’s important to note that the English proficiency test results must be valid within two years at the time of visa application.
